About Year 4
Key Questions
Here are some answers to key questions you may have.
What does home learning look like?
Reading - We would like children in Year 4 to read at home at least 5 times a week. Alongside their school reading book, encourage them to read lots of other texts: story books, information books and magazines for example. Every time they read please record this in their reading diaries. The children can date and write the title of the book themselves if you are busy but please do sign it yourself.

Maths – Your child has a login to TT Rockstars, which is great for practising times tables. They also have a login for MyMaths, where they will be set optional homework tasks. We would recommend exploring the MyMaths website as the children are able to access tasks, games and learning even if it is not set as homework.

Spellings – Every Friday, your child will be given a set of words to learn how to spell and they will be tested on these the following Friday. The spellings can also be found on the website. It is important that the children understand what the words mean and that they practise using them in context.
When do the children wear their PE kits?
This half term the children need to come into school wearing PE kits on Thursday for their PE lessons. There will be two sessions taught on Thursday afternoon.
