Online Safety
The Internet is a wonderful resource for children which puts the world in their hands, allowing them to discover, connect and create.
When we look at the issue of Internet safety we need to keep the issue in context and have a balanced view, remembering the overall tremendous benefits that the medium brings to children.
Whilst there are enormous benefits for children using the Internet at home and at school there are potential dangers for children using the net unsupervised;
- What sort of things do your children like doing on the Internet ?
- What sort of concerns do you have about your children’s use of the Internet ?
- How do you monitor what your children are doing online?
Please take the time to have a look at the websites and videos below which will explain the risks children face when using the Internet and what you can do to help keep your child safe:

We advise that parents take this opportunity to talk with their children about staying safe on the Internet and to monitor what they are doing online. We know that some of our children have Facebook, Instagram, and other social media profiles even though the permitted minimum age to use these sites is 13 years old, according to their terms and conditions.
We are committed to keeping our pupils safe and to promoting the safe, responsible use of the Internet.
Age restrictions for social media websites are as follows:
Age limit 13: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, Reddit, Snapchat, Youtube, Wechat, TikTok, Keek, Kik, Foursquare, Flickr
Age limit 14: LinkedIn
Age limit 16: WhatsApp
There are risks of underage use of such sites.
We work proactively to promote safe online behaviour, help pupils identify and avoid risky or negative behaviours online and encourage them to use social media responsibly as part of our PSHE curriculum.
