Freddie Mills, World Light Heavy Weight Boxing Champion, was born at number 7 Terrace Road which has since been demolished.
Freddie attended St Michael's School from 1 April 1927 until 3 August 1933.
He trained in his converted garden shed and started boxing professionally in Bournemouth in 1936.
He defeated Gus Lesnevich to win the world title on 26 June 1948.
