Your child started their phonics journey as soon as they started school at St Michael's. They began by listening to the different sounds around them and developed their speaking and listening skills. We practised tuning into sounds, listening and remembering sounds and talking about sounds.
We are now developing our oral blending and segmenting skills and will learn a new set of letters each week. We will encourage children to use their knowledge of the letter sounds to blend and sound out words. Every week you will receive a copy of the sounds taught. Please practice these at home and check this webpage for the latest jolly phonics song action.
