What is a Knoweldge Organiser?

Knowledge Organisers (KOs) are an A4 summary sheet of the key facts and essential knowledge that pupils need about a unit of work. At St Michael's we currently use Knowledge Organisers to support learning in Geography, History and Science. Pupils have an individual KO for each unit that acts as a bookmark in their excercise book. Each lesson, they can use their KO to refer to for key knowledge. They may be quizzed on key information or may be asked to use them to recall some key learning from previous lessons. KOs often contain small glossaries of key vocabulary the children will need during the unit of work.
