Summer 1
English | Reading | Writing |
This half term the children will be reading poetry and using the book The Works to inspire them. Progressing from the Colour Monster, which they read in Reception, we will be exploring emotions in the book Ruby’s Worry. Lastly, we will explore the illustrations in the picture book The Rhythm of the Rain. Please continue to read with your child at least 5 times a week as this has a massive impact on their decoding skills and fluency. | In English this half term, we will continue to explore Talk for Writing. They will be learning two stories the first one being Hansel and Gretel. For each story, they will learn them with actions (we will send these home) and then innovate the story before writing their own adaption. In their writing, we will be focussing on writing accurate sentences in particular using was/ were correctly. They will be learning to use regular past tense verbs in their writing as well as a few irregular verbs too. Please help them learn their stories when they bring them home -this is a great help! |
