Spring Term 23/24
Year 5&6 Swimming Gala - BCS - 11.03.24
This was our first swimming gala of the year and boy was it a good one. BCS put together a wonderful event. All school's had the chance to enter swimmers into freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and relay races. Our year 5's and 6's were full of excitement and even though some had never competed before, they all gave it their best. By the end, we walked away with a third and fourth place. Well done! At the end of the event, BCS put together a great celebration ceremony with juice, muffins and medals.
KS2 Let Girls Play, Football Activator Festival - The Bourne Academy - 06.03.24
What an opportunity our school was given to attend this event. It was very kindly ran by the staff at The Bourne Academy and was intended for girls to get an insight into activities that could help enhance and develop their football skills. From this, the girls from our school would become football activators and bring their newly learnt skills back to our school to impart their knowledge and fun activities. Not only was the day and success but the students got a surprise and ended up meeting some of the AFC Bournemouth Women's team. How amazing!
Year 2 Multi-Skills Festival - St Peter's School - 29.02.23
This day was full of a lot of children full of energy and having the best time. The PE GCSE students at St Peter's School ran a selection of fun, round robin activities that the children got to enjoy during the afternoon. The St Michael's Students all walked away with stickers, given to them by different activity leaders. These stickers were awarded to them for their hard work, team work and determination throughout the activities.
Year 5/6 Bee Netball Tournament - BSG - 07.02.24
A huge thank you to BSG for hosting an amazing event. Our students had a lot of fun. During the event, our students got to play a total of 8 games. We took 9 from our school and their rotated using the bee-netball rotation sheets. The children got to play all of the different positions, which was great for the development. St Michael's keps working hard whilst also having a lot of fun and meeting children from different schools.
Year 5/6 Basketball Trails - St Michael's - 05.02.24
Wow! What a turn out! 30 children attending the basketball trials. It was so great to see such a variety of children turn up to have a go at becoming apart of the schools basketball training squad. We had a lot of fun doing lots of activities to see the children physical and thinking skills within the sport. All the children got an insight to what the training sessions would be like and all got involved. The chosen children will be spending the 6 weeks after half term developing and progressing with their basketball skills.
Pedal Pass-on - St Michael's - 02.02.24
As always a huge welcome and thank you to Sustrans for their events. This opportunity enabled people to donate unwanted, unloved and unworking bikes. They brought them to school and Hugh (from Sustrans) collected them. From this, people could then register to recieved a refurbished bike. What a great project and way to support people in becoming more travel concious.
Year 5/6 Tag Rugby Trials - St Michael's - 30.01.24
As always, what a great turn out and opportunity for our students. We had a variety of year 5 and 6's that wanted to show us their skills in order to become apart of our tag-rugby training squad. All students worked hard and listened well to the instructions given. They not only showed their physical skills within the sport but also their respect. The chosen 15 students will be spending the 6 weeks, agfter half term, training at The Littledown Centre.
Year 5/6 Netball League Match - St Michael's - 24.01.24
What an exciting game. This was the first time that we had hosted a match and we were all very excited to invite Park School to play at our school. During the match, the team fought valiantlyy and kept a smile on their face throughout. I was extrememly impressed buy our students sportsmanship and kindness. All of the children had so much fun that even when the match was over they all wanted to play on for an extra 15 minutes.
Year 6 Football Match - St Peters - 22.01.24
This was the last league match to play and the Year 6 children really tired their best. The weather was against them, with the rain and cold but they kept on going and played their hearts out. A lot of progress has been seen by this team and we are extremely proud.
County Cross-Country - King's Park - 18.01.24
Wow. What an event! Two of our talented cross-country runners got the opportunity to compete in the country-cross county event. It was held and King's Park and the students had to a run a long lap all around the park and outer areas. Both students had a great attitude throughout. They warmed up well before the race and kept going at a strong consistent pace. Out of 98, one placed 51st and the other 78th. We are so proud of their achievement and we can't wait to hear about their future in cross-country.
Year 5/6 Indoor Athletics - Avonbourne School - 16.01.24
This was a great event and put together well. It was a first for all our students in competing in indoor atheltics and they had to overcome a few 'hurdles'. There were 30 children from St Michael's that competed and each one of them said how much fun they had. As a school, we worked really hard and encouraged and supporting our peers. The girls standing long jump did exceeding well and placed first as a group. I can see us being involved a lot more next year.
Year 6 Invitational Cup - 11th January - The Littledown Centre
Once again, the students at our school did us proud. As a team, they worked really hard together and tried their best. During the afternoon, the team were lucky to play 8 matches. There was a mix between wins, draws and losses but they certainly never gave up. They were all couragous, respectful and peaceful. By the end of the afternoon, all the student were tierd but very happy.
