Welcome
Welcome
I am very proud to be Head Teacher of St Michael’s Primary School. There has been a school here at the heart of the community for nearly one hundred and fifty years. Though the school has expanded and changed over time, we remain committed to serving our community as a place of education and nurture for our children.
As a Church school, our culture, systems and curriculum are steeped in our Christian values of Peace, Courage and Respect. We express our Christian vision with the verse in Matthew – “Let your light shine”. For us this means helping our children to develop and display a Christian character and values.
Our children work hard and learn a challenging knowledge rich curriculum. We also place reading and high quality texts at the centre of our work, as reading is the key to all learning. They leave our school ready for the next stage with skills, knowledge and a love of literature.
I do not lead this school alone, I am fortunate to be assisted by a first class team of over 95 dedicated members of staff and Maggie our school dog. She is very friendly and also keen to meet any visitors.
I look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful school.

Our School Vision
Like a lighthouse, St Michael’s is a beacon of safety and stability. It takes courage to learn and remember knowledge, develop new skills and allow your own light to shine in the world. We respect our differences and know that working peacefully together allows our lights to shine more brightly.
'Let your light shine' Matthew 5:16
Culture, Languages and Diversity
We are very proud of the broad range of languages, religions and cultures represented at our school. There are currently over fifty three languages spoken by our families across the school, click on the link below to access the current list of languages represented at our school.
'Bringing Schools Together' - our Trust of five local schools
The Trust (Bringing Schools Together) represents five Bournemouth Schools who want to work in partnership together
Kingsleigh Primary School
Moordown St John’s CE VA Primary School
St Michael’s CE VC Primary School
St Mark’s CE VA Primary School
Muscliff Primary School
…………………….have formed a Local Collaborative Trust.
All five schools have their unique ethos and are all striving to promote and secure outstanding school improvement and raise standards for the children in their schools.
Each member school has recognised the value in coming together as a group of schools.
The BST will promote collaboration and the sharing of ideas. This will work in strengthening each individual school through mutual respect and team work.
Our shared vision will enable our school staff to work together for staff inset and training. There will be opportunity for professional challenge across the schools. The Trust will encourage Governing Bodies to share ideas for school improvement.
Membership in the BST does not mean that we have become one school or a group of schools in an ‘academy chain’. Each school will retain their own identity, Governing Body and School Budget.
The working conditions for the school staff do not change. Each school will have their own list of priorities; however there will be many times when the different schools have shared needs and priorities. The BST through scheduled board meetings will focus resources and time on joint projects across the schools.
