Can Do Rockley Water Sports - Poole Park - 14.06.24
This is one of my favourite events. Not only do the children that go have the best time but the activities that they get involved in are incredible. All of the children really had the a wonderful time, walked away with huge smiles on their face and have an experience they will never forgot.
Town Sports - King's Park - 06.06.24
This was an inctredible event and our sports people had the best time from start to finish. During the day, the top competitors at St Michael's competed against other schools in their chosen event. For all the track events, there were heats and the field events were straight finals. All day the St Michael's children worked really hard and continued to show our school values of Courage, Peace and Respect.
As a school, we had a first place in the Year 5 boys cricketball throw, 3rd Place in the Year 6 boys 75m sprint, 3rd Place in the Year 4 boys 60m sprint and made the final for the Year 6 Girls 75m sprint and Year 6 Boys relay.

All of the children had so much fun playing in a sport, which is not so commonly played in Primary School. We had so much fun that I forgot to take photos. Year 5&6 Town Sport Trials - Littledown Centre - 9.05.24 & 16.05.24
This year, to ensure that all year 5&6 children got the opportunity to show us their skills and qualify to attend Town Sports, we held trials at the Littledown centre. For these trials, we had 30 boys and 26 girls across year 5&6 sign up and attened. During these trials, each child got the opportunity to try out for any of the events, which would be at Town Sports. From this, one boy and girl, from year 5 and 6, would qualify to move onto Town Sports. It was a really fun event and all of the students at St Michael's showed courage throughout. It was great to see so many students trial for mulitple events. Well done! Letters for the children that qualified, will be handed out before half term.
Year 5 This Girl Can Festival - Talbot Heath - 01.05.24
This is one of my favourite events of the year. The whole day is always so much fun and it's great to see girls playing and enjoying some sports that they would have never thought about trying. By the end of the day, a large majorty of the girls said how much they enjoyed the tag-rugby. How brilliant is that! Thank you once again for all the sports coaches that came down to inspire the girls. They got to play cricket, tag-rugby, rounders and even did a bit of cheerleading. Woooo....Go St Michael's!
Year 5&6 Can Do Cricket - Slade's Farm - 25.04.24
Well, what a great day. All of the children got involved and had lots of fun. It was wonderful to hear some of the children at the end explain how they were nervous and not quite sure about cricket at the start but ended up loving it by the end. We even managed to spot some inspiring cricket players within out St Michael's bunch.
Year 3&4 Tennis Festival - Victoria Avenue - 22.04.24
WOW oh WOW!!! We WON!!! How fantastic! There were 8 other schools at this event. All of the children went around in pairs and got involved in some tennis activities. During the activities, the children were able to score points for our school. St Michael's did amazing and now we are moving onto the next event! Go Team!!
Sports for Schools Athlete Visit - St Michael's School - 17.04.24
Wow!! What an incredible day! On Wednesday 17th April, our school was visited by former GB Gymnastic Kelly Simm. Throughout the day, all children within the school got to experience an exciting and encouraging experience. In the morning, each child did their fitness circuit, working hard for a minute within each exercise, and trust me...it was hard. In the afternoon, all the children were delivered an inspiring assembly by Kelly, where she spoke about her journey of perseverance and determination so that she could become a GB Gymnastic.
At the end of the day, Kelly and Paula, from sports for schools, were extremely complementary of our children and staff. They were so impressed with how all the children got involved. I am also extremely thankful and grateful for all of the effort that they children have put in to gain sponsors, as well as a huge thank you for all of the adults that gave sponsors. Some of the money raised will go back to sports for schools so that they can keep the programme running and the rest will come back to our school so we can buy sports equipment.
The moment you have all be waiting for...It’s very exciting to say that as a school we raised a total of....£2672.67!!!!!!!!
