Our Church School
What is a church school?
A church school means that our work is rooted in our theological Bible based vision. It means we follow and teach from the Bible, while at the same time we celebrate and acknowledge the contribution that other faiths and cultures make to our school.
What is our vision?
Our vision was created in 2020 following consultation with staff, pupils and governors. We see each of our children and staff as equal and unique as they are created "in the image of god". We believe that each child and adult has their own talents, character and soul. It is our job as educators to ensure that each child and adult "shines" in what is currently quite a dark world. We also see Jesus and his teaching of love , kindness, justice and compassion as being a light that we want to see shining within our community.
Like a lighthouse, St Michael’s is a beacon of safety and stability. It takes courage to learn and remember knowledge, develop new skills and allow your own light to shine in the world. We respect our differences and know that working peacefully together allows our lights to shine more brightly.
'Let your light shine' Matthew 5:16
St Mike's Church
We are a Church School and we have a very active link with St Mike's Church. The vicar, Sarah Yetman, and the Children and Families Pastor, Jo Okechukwu, work with the school on Collective Worship, RE, RSHE and the Christian distinctiveness of the school.
We are fortunate that the church is only a short walk from the school. This allows us to visit for lessons and take part in services for Christmas and Easter.
