Cancellation of Church Services
Thu 16 Dec 2021Dear Parents and Carers
I have taken the difficult decision to cancel our Year 2-4 and Year 5 & 6 services at St Mike’s Church tomorrow, due the increased risk posed by the Omicron variant. The planned church services would have seen multiple year groups mix inside; something we now feel may pose a greater risk of potential transmission.
With quick work from Mr Short and Miss Cann, we have managed to rearrange the Year 5 and 6 service to take place outside at the Signature Care home in Westbourne. This builds on a link created with the care home at this time of year, whereby our Year 5 and 6 children write to the residents, wishing them a Merry Christmas. The children will walk to the home in the morning. Once there, they will not step inside the home; instead, they will gather outside where we will keep the two year groups separate. The residents of the home will remain inside the building looking out of their windows. We hope this will also bring some Christmas joy to the home’s residents.
There will be a class-based worship from Heidi Haagensen, family pastor at St Mikes, for children in Years 2-4.
May I take this opportunity to thank you all for the support you have shown this term and wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas.
